MATERNAL & OBSTETRICAL CARE

The Obstetrical Unit is located on the second floor of Mercy and is designed to make your labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum as comfortable as possible. Our spacious, private, home-like birthing suites are furnished with a television, shower, phone and crib. Jacuzzis and VCRs/DVD’s are available by request. Your support person is welcome to stay with you (if you or your support person is a minor, parental consent is required). Other immediate family members or designees, are welcome to join you and your support person as partners in your delivery experience or await the exciting event in our comfortable family waiting room where TV, snacks and drinks are available for purchase.

The obstetrical staff works with you and your physician to design a birthing experience that meets your personal wishes, (including the type of anesthesia, if any, you prefer) to help ensure the health of you and your baby.

Following your delivery, you and your baby may stay together in your room as much as you wish. Should your baby have special needs, he/she will be cared for in our fully equipped nursery located just across the corridor from your room. A licensed lactation consultant is available on staff to support and encourage breast-feeding of your newborn.
