The mission of Catholic Health Initiatives is
to nurture the healing ministry of the Church by bringing it
new life, energy, and viability in the 21st century. Fidelity
to the Gospel urges us to emphasize human dignity and social
justice as we move toward the creation of healthier communities.
VISION
Catholic
Health Initiatives’ vision is to create a national Catholic
ministry which will live out its mission by transforming traditional
health care delivery into integrated networks and creating new
ministries that promote healthy communities.
Catholic Health Initiatives - Values Defined
REVERENCE
A culture of reverence provides the foundation for everything we are and do.
Our sense of oneness with creation with local communities, and with those we
serve enhances our organizational performance. The distinctiveness of “how
we do things around here” is grounded in a lived spirituality and personal
faith. Our recognition of all life as a gift moves us to acknowledge God’s
presence and power in our healing ministry and to steward limited resources
carefully. Our consequent, profound respect for every person and for a diversity
of people and perspectives (within and beyond our walls) increases our organizational
effectiveness, market performance, and potential to bring healing to our patients/residents
and health to our communities. Partnerships and team collaboration are therefore
hallmarks of our approach to care delivery, providing a workplace morale (“spirit
at work”) that significantly contributes to our becoming the provider
and employer of choice in our local communities. Staff development in the attributes
of our distinctive culture becomes our avenue to leadership effectiveness,
clinical quality, customer service, operational performance, and market niche.
Since our business focus is that of healing relationships, our daily work is
not just to make a living but a ministry to make a difference in the lives
of others.
INTEGRITY
A culture of integrity characterizes the behaviors of people called to relationships
that heal. The organizational measures of open communication, ethical decision-making,
and humility, are consistently demonstrated and encouraged. Not only is doing
the right thing simply how we do business and deliver care, but our communications
reveal our commitment to truth telling and to how we always see ourselves from
the perspective of others in a larger community. Because of our authentic commitment
to our mission and core values, we attract, retain, and develop the best and
the brightest people who come to work each day because of a deep sense of vocation
or spiritual calling. As a result, we are credible in the eyes of team members,
partners, local communities, and especially our patient/resident “customers”.
COMPASSION
A culture of compassion characterizes our care for the whole person, our commitment
to the common good, and our outreach to the most vulnerable. Work requirements
are managed in a participative and person-centered way, demonstrating an ability
to feel the needs of others and a commitment to act always in the vest interests
of all stakeholders. Through our internal and external networks, our advocacy
on behalf of the voiceless in our communities is unrelenting. Because of our
fidelity to the Gospel and our commitment to promote human dignity and social
justice, we are constantly working to transform the way health care is delivered
and accessed in our country and beyond.
EXCELLENCE
A culture of excellence characterizes high-performing organizations that strive
to deliver the best quality care and to meet or exceed CHI’s strategic
measures of success. In achieving clinical, strategic, operational, and cultural
priorities, our people set and accomplish goals that are challenging yet realistic.
There is alignment of accountability, continuous improvement, learning and
innovation with strategic focus. In pursuing clear, focused plans of action,
an enthusiastic and healthy spirit is evidenced, targets are achieved effectively
and efficiently, and conflict is managed constructively. Each person benefits
from the wisdom and strength of the whole organization and appropriate risk-taking
is rewarded. New and better ways of delivering care, managing resources, and
meeting community needs consistently energize all concerns.
