During the influenza
epidemic of 1917, the Sisters
cared
for their patients in
this
eight-room house that
served
as the
Nampa
General
Hospital
while they
lived in
the“convent” tent.
In 1919 a new 50-bed
hospital was built on Holly St. and named Mercy Hospital.
Dr. George O. A. Kellogg
was a pioneer doctor and instrumental founder of
Mercy Hospital.
Later he
became
the Chief
of Staff
at
the Training School for Nurses.
In 1920 the Sisters of Mercy established the Mercy
School of Nursing at Misericordia Hall in Nampa. Sister Mary Alphonsus
Mulryan, one of the original “tent sisters,” was
the first director.
The current Medical Center
was built in 1968. Today
Mercy continues to
pioneer the most advanced healthcare
in the spirit of
the
Sisters of Mercy.
Mercy North
Health Center,
Mercy’s sister campus,
was
built in 1998.
Mercy North provides
